The seed for Delhi School of Theology (DST) was sown in 2012, when a group of church leaders in Delhi began to dream and plan together about how to raise up urban men and women who would live on mission for Jesus. There is a need to train pastors, Christian leaders and local church members to minister effectively in India’s growing urban population, especially in Delhi, which is a large and influential city.
A partnership was thus formed with Asia Biblical Theological Seminary (ABTS) to offer Master's degrees in Theology in Delhi as the first step of raising up strong Christian leaders in North India. After nearly three years of offering classes, Delhi School of Theology was officially registered as a Religious Trust in 2017 and seeks to serve the local church in the city by continuing to provide quality theological education and resources to equip local church leaders to be effective in their ministry.
Along with the Master's degree programme, DST launched a one year certificate programme in Bible, theology and ministry called Leadership Core in 2019. With many students already enrolled and engaged in our ongoing programmes, the kind of theological education provided has clearly met a need in Delhi. We have been thrilled to be able to provide world-class theological education with well-qualified professors to teach classes in Delhi. It has been very gratifying to see our students impacted by solid teaching, and then in turn to apply what they have learned in the classroom to their real-life ministry settings.
